Let me introduce you to two filmmakers who are blazing a path into the mystical heart of the sacred in cinema to show us, as they say, “humanity’s inseparable oneness.”
Cynthia Lukas and Kell Kearns and their production company Heaven on Earth have produced several notable projects, such as the marvelous documentary “RUMI Returning” on the life and times of the great Sufi poet Rumi, which has been broadcast on 330 PBS stations across the country.
Shot mostly in Turkey, where, 800 years ago, the great mystic lived and taught, Rumi Returning weaves a tapestry of the past, the present and the timeless. It uses ecstatic Sufi music, stunning HD visuals of the whirling dervishes Rumi inspired, and the architectural and artistic masterpieces of medieval Islam to draw the viewer into the transcendent beauty of The Golden Age of Sufism. Scenes from the great mystic’s life are recreated evoking the depth of his spiritual journey and the great heart of his incredibly profound writings.
